SOAR is set to compete in the finals of the Latino Knowledge Bowl after a strong performance earlier this week. Competing against schools from across the region, the team answered challenging questions that tested their knowledge of history, culture, and current events.
The team consists of Natalie Castro, Delilah Vazquez, Kiara ViDemantay, Cassandra Sanchez, and Solash Corona Castro.
This year’s Latino Knowledge Bowl is different than previous years in that organizers have done away with the Kahoot-style format and adopted a Jeopardy inspired one.
For Cassandra Sanchez, the change was initially disorienting yet invigorating.
“I was unsure about the new format but after competing in the preliminary I ended up liking it. I am very proud of our team and how well we performed,” Sanchez said.
The SOAR team will now prepare for the final round, where they hope to continue their momentum and bring home top honors. They will be competing against SOAR Palmdale, Antelope Valley High School, Quartz Hill High School, and Eastside High School at the Antelope Valley High School District Boardroom at 5 p.m. The District Office is located at 176 Holston Drive, Lancaster, CA 93535.
