Every year, Teacher Appreciation Week gives students a chance to recognize the impact that teachers have on our lives. School is often thought of as assignments and tests, while teachers are the ones who help make learning inspiring, significant, and fun. This year, Teacher Appreciation Week runs from May 4-8, 2026.
Teachers do more than just provide lessons; they encourage us when we are challenged and help us think differently. They support us inside and outside the classroom, whether it is done by staying after school to help, giving advice, or simply believing in students. “People don’t always realize how much planning and effort teachers put into every lesson to make sure that every student feels supported,” shared Monica Muniz.
This week is meant to remind us that teaching isn’t just a job; it is also a commitment to help others grow. Teachers spend time creating lessons, grading assignments, and finding different ways to keep students engaged. Their dedication typically goes unnoticed, but it truly plays a huge role in who we become. “What students typically remember most is not the lesson, but it is the teacher, the way they explain something, and the patience they show,” said Gianna Brochu.
Teacher Appreciation Week is the perfect moment to thank a teacher. It could be as simple as a note, a compliment, or showing effort in class. This is also a chance for students to reflect on how much teachers have made a difference in their lives.
In the end, teachers don’t just teach, they inspire students by providing confidence and curiosity. Every week, but especially this week, teachers deserve our appreciation.
