Are you looking for a club where passion meets performance? Well, Sports Club has been doing an incredible job this season, bringing energy, excitement, and school spirit to campus through a series of engaging events. Sports Club President Jonathan Rodriguez Velazquez says, “I’m passionate about sports and ever since I was introduced to the club during my freshman year, I knew I wanted to lead the club to greater things, so when I finally created an event with another high school, I finally felt like I did something special not only for the club but for SOAR High School students to enjoy.” It all kicked off last Friday with an exciting soccer game against Knight High School, where students showed up in full support, creating an electric atmosphere. The game was tied 5 to 5, so to determine a true winner, penalties were held. SOAR won against Knight High School 5 to 4! The momentum continues with an upcoming game against Quartz Hill on April 3rd, giving students another chance to come together and cheer on their team.
Looking ahead, one of the most anticipated events is the SOAR Olympics, taking place from April 21st to April 30th. This event will feature competitions in basketball, soccer, volleyball, and flag football between classes, encouraging friendly competition and boosting unity across all grade levels. In addition, on April 24th, there will be a highly anticipated flag football game against our sister school, SOAR Palmdale, which is sure to bring even more intensity and school pride.
To wrap up this exciting stretch of events, there will be a soccer game against SOAR Palmdale on May 1st, ending the season on a high note. Overall, these events have not only kept students engaged but have also strengthened the school community and created lasting memories for everyone involved. Sports Club’s parliamentarian Victor Obiora mentions, “Sports club has taught me not only responsibility but as well commitment in being with the club as well being competitive because it’s good to be competitive but not too competitive.” So if you’re looking for a time to connect with your peers all while being active, Sports Club and its events are most definitely for you!
