Prom season is upon us, and it is one of the most exciting times for high schoolers. This year’s prom will be on March 21, 2026, at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles. The theme is “A Night in the Bayou,” inspired by the Disney movie Princess and the Frog. This dance is hosted by the juniors, the Class of 2027, who have been planning it since May of their sophomore year.

The president of the Class of 2027, Pamela Francisco, shared, “This dance is a once-in-a-lifetime memory, even if it’s your junior or senior prom.  Dancing and having a blast with your classmates in LA at a beautiful venue doesn’t happen often.” But before all of the fun can happen, there are a few requirements that students must first meet. Students must have a good academic standing and have a positive attendance record, as well as understand and follow all of the rules and regulations listed on the permission slip. Permission slips can be found in the front office and need to be turned in as soon as possible.

Students must purchase their tickets, which is the most costly thing for many. Presale happened before winter break, where tickets were $140, and after break, they were $150. Starting this week, tickets have increased to $160 and will continue to be so until the end of the month of January. Tickets are currently being sold by class officers during lunch every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. After January, the prices will continue to increase by increments of $10 every other week. It's encouraged for students to get their tickets as soon as they can to avoid buying them when they are extremely expensive.

The Class of 2027 is committed to making prom accessible for everyone. Students who are unable to pay the full price at once can make a down payment. The price that is set on the day they start their down payment will be the amount that they need to pay off before prom, and this can be coordinated with Mrs. Fields in the front office. Tickets are also available online for students who are not able to pay with cash. The link could be found on the posters around the school’s bulletin boards. Please note that an extra $5 fee would be added when purchasing online. When asked why students should go to prom, Class of 2027 secretary Delilah Vazquez stated, “We want students to go to prom for a day to bond and have fun with their peers. We know for many it’s a big day and might be the last dance they attend in high school, so we want to be sure everyone has a fun and fulfilling experience.”

Students are permitted to bring along one guest, however, space is limited to only 30 student guests. Their tickets will be 10 dollars more expensive than the price of SOAR student tickets. Guests must also complete their permission slips, which can also be found in the front office. Due to the limited spaces available, it is recommended that guests turn in their slips and buy their tickets as soon as they can.

Be on the lookout for any new updates. If there are any questions or concerns about prom, ask any of the class officers, check Google Classroom, or reach out to them on their new Instagram: soar2027_
