Midterm elections are taking place on November 3, 2026. What this could mean for the future of the country and for SOAR students who feel passionate about politics is all dependent on several factors playing into the voting process. Key points include candidates, elections, and the state of the country in its current term under President Trump. Midterm elections are an important part of the United States democratic system.
Before Election Day, candidates campaign to explain their ideas, discuss important issues, and persuade voters to support them. Citizens learn about candidates through public debates, advertisements, and meetings. All these leading points are crucial to determining the number of results that can be derived from the voting process.
When asked about his thoughts on the current administration, Patrick Brena Cosme stated, “I am currently unhappy with the current administration, both from a social and economic perspective. The job rate is continuing to stall out, the cuts that are starting to hit lower- income people in full force, the tariffs, high gas prices, and American lives being taken.” He explains that in the process of improving the country, notable changes need to be made, such as seeing everyone as a part of the same class of Americans.
