In 2025, Saturday Night Live (SNL) will mark an incredible milestone—its 50th anniversary. Premiering on October 11, 1975, SNL has become a cultural phenomenon, consistently reinventing itself while delighting audiences with its unique blend of political satire, musical performances, and unforgettable character sketches. Over the years, the show has been sure to offer a mix of political satire, musical performances from legendary to upcoming artists, unforgettable characters, and a whole lot of laughs. With its 50th anniversary approaching with quickness, fans can expect a stellar celebration packed with returning alumni, callbacks to classic sketches, and memorable moments for the film history books.

Dr. Thibault, accompanied by her son as a viewer of this year's SNL 50th anniversary, shared her thoughts on the milestone celebration. "We got about halfway through it and I thought it was really fun, but there were a few sketches I thought they could do better on, like Chad. I didn’t like that one too much." Although she wasn’t fully satisfied with a few sketches, she praised the overall effort. Well, at least half of it for now.  SNL's commitment to blending modern humor with nostalgic timepieces is part of what makes these milestone episodes so special and dear to its viewers.

Fans also appreciated the return of new fan-favorite, viral moments. Kirriyen White, a 9th grader at SOAR High School, spoke highly of one particular sketch. "I really liked the Sabrina Carpenter sketch when they brought back Domingo. I thought that was really funny considering I enjoyed Ariana Grande’s version." Domingo, a recurring character, made waves in his return with his quirky personality, and his return was a certified crowd pleaser, earning big laughs with his interaction with the pop star. This mix of nostalgia and contemporary humor evolves to meet the tastes of a new generation of viewers, which is the key to SNL’s long-time success and popularity.

As SNL celebrates its 50th year, it’s clear the show remains a powerful force in shaping comedy and pop culture.
