What better way is there to celebrate Pi Day than with free pie? Puzzles for Pi(es) is a school-wide competition that tests the problem-solving skills of students and awards them with a sweet treat, and is hosted by the Math Department in celebration of Pi Day.

As a way to get ready for Pi Day on March 14th, students will have the opportunity to solve nine puzzles total, starting Monday, March 3rd, and concluding Wednesday, March 13th. The best part? You are eligible for a raffle to win free pies, that will be distributed the following week, for every correct answer to the puzzle!

Why puzzles? According to Ms. Justice, "the objective is to foster a passion for critical thinking and problem-solving." Certain challenges have the intent to get the mind working in various ways; some have nothing to do with math. As stated by Ms. Justice, the department is interested in exposing students to an array of challenges, some of which they weren't familiar with.

It's very simple to participate: just scan the QR code that is hung on campus flyers or on the doors of your teachers' rooms to find the puzzle for each day. Your probability of earning a tasty pie will grow as you solve more puzzles and gain more raffle entries!
