Most of us, if not all of us are subscribed to Disney+ or have watched a Disney movie in the last couple of years. This is the first year since 2014 that Disney has not made a million dollars in the box office. We have to keep in mind that this also includes Marvel and Lucasfilm Studios. According to CNBC’s article titled ‘Disney CEO Bob Iger says company’s movies have been too focused on messaging’, “Creators lost sight of what their No. 1 objective needed to be,” Iger said at the DealBook Summit in New York on Wednesday. “We have to entertain first. It’s not about messages.” This was stated by Bob Iger, the current CEO of Disney Corp. He also further stated that we will see fewer films as they will focus on producing more quality content. Now let’s talk to a SOAR student and see what they think. Tiahana Osorio states, “I would say that Disney likes to create too many remakes, and their lack of orginal content is frustrating, it feels as though Disney is losing its magic.” Christian Hernandez states, “Disney will keep buying companies and over time lose the reasons those companies like Marvel or Lucas Films because worth buying. Disney will keep buying things the aren’t gonna understand.” In conclusion, I believe that Disney will be heading in the right direction if they step off the pedal a bit on the movie production and focus more on the quality of the final product.
