AVC Registration This Wednesday

By Staff Reports

SOAR High School students will be able to register for their summer and fall classes beginning at 9 a.m. this Wednesday, May 7. The Class of 2029 will register the following week, beginning on May 12 and ending May 14.

Students have already received their high school schedules in their AVID classes and will now need to find college classes that fit within that schedule. No schedule changes will be allowed unless absolutely necessary.

For current freshmen, this means they will be finally able to take academic classes outside their foundational courses that help them complete their CALGETC (formally the IGETC), a singular education pathrway for community college students to fulfill lower-division general education requirements necessary for transfer and admission to either a California State University of University of California college.

For current sophomores and juniors, it means getting closer to fulfilling those requirements and, possibly, earning an AA degree.

Meanwhile, the Class of 2029 will register for their first physical education class and one of two required foundational classes. Those classes are HD 101 and Library 101.

SOAR classes will pause instruction before the registration time to allow students to log in and prepare for registration, which begin promptly at 9 a.m. Once registered, students are advised to pay their $21 fee. The amount represents the health and student representative charge assessed by the college. This is the only expense SOAR students are required to pay as tuition and books are picked up by the state through its grant program.

To register, log into edunav and select the course and teacher you wish to enroll in as well as the correct semester. You can search by teacher, course, or CRN number. At 9 a.m., hit submit and you're all good.....as long as there is availability. Be sure to have backup classes in case a class fills up fast. Good luck!
